Different projects take different time. Here I would like share with you the process from inquiry to shipment of a downlight project.
Feb 20, 2020: The customer sent two photos to ask if we can provide corresponding products to replace their traditional lamps.
The diameter of the surface mounting frame is 227mm, the height is about 220mm, and the diameter of the inner downlight is 199mm. I replied to the customer that if we could bid with our new mold down light. Are we able to catch the schedule? The customer did not reply.
Feb 24, 2020: Customer replied that he did not know the deadline for the project and agreed to get more information.
Jun 4, 2020: The customer sent a photo to ask me if I still remember this project, and he also sent a picture of the downlights application scene. The updated news is that the whole traditional lamp including the inner down lights and outside downlights housings shall be replaced. The height of the new led downlight can be different, but the diameter should be larger than the original traditional down lamp to cover the old lamp dirty ring on the ceiling.
Initially the customer intends to replace it with round ceiling panel light. The ceiling is a concrete ceiling, so customer wants to use the old mounting holes. The height of the original lamp housing is about 175mm. We responded quickly and provided a led down light drawing to the customer on the same day. After detailed communication, the customer agreed to use our current SMD down light led, but need to find a suitable circular ceiling frame to install it. It is preliminarily confirmed that the diameter should be at least 227mm, preferably 230-235mm, or the same diameter as our current clip-in ceiling down light 245mm.
Jun 5, 2020: Quote to customer based on above requirements. Customer informs that this is a confirmed order and requires samples.
Jun 5- Jun 10, 2020: Send ies files and data sheet for the lighting downlights as required and communicated further for sample details. On the same day, we have arranged to proceed sampling of the led down lights mounting frame to save time.
Jun 17, 2020: Confirm the sample quantity of two models (SMD surface downlight and COB surface down light), 4 pcs each.
Jun 18, 2020: We received samples of the ceiling mount frame and take a photo to the customer to confirm further details.
Jun 30, 2020: We sent out samples to customer.
Jul 6, 2020: Customer received the samples from us.
Jul 8, 2020: Customers checked samples and communicate with us for further details.
Jul 21, 2020: Customer Install samples downlight led at the project site and request a re-quotation based on new information.
Jul 23, 2020: The customer reconfirmed the size at the actual project site, the diameter should be 270mm, and the height should be 150mm. And we confirm some other modification details.
Jul 24-Jul 27, 2020: Communicate the specific details of the product.
Aug 26, 2020: Customer has quoted to the end customer.
Dec 9, 2020: The order is initially confirmed, and the written order will be received in January 2021.
Jan 25, 2021: The final price is confirmed, and the order is basically confirmed.
Jan 25-Feb 9, 2021: Confirm the details one after another.
Feb 17, 2021: Send PI to customers.
Feb 18-22, 2021: Confirm the final details for led down lighting mold.
Feb 23, 2021: Payment received.
It took a whole year from an inquiry to final payment (Coronavirus makes some delay of course). The customer’s initial target panel light was changed to our new ceiling downlights.
